AI reliability checklist

A practical routine for checking AI-generated information.

  1. Identify the claim that needs verification.
  2. Find the original source or supporting evidence.
  3. Compare with independent, credible sources.
  4. Check dates, context and uncertainty.
  5. Record what you can and cannot verify.

Remember: a confident response is not proof of accuracy.

Use a simple verification routine

Identify the claim, find the original source if possible, and compare it with a second credible source. Check the date and ask whether a quotation or statistic is being used in context. If evidence is missing, say so rather than treating a confident answer as proof.

For school assignments, keep a record of useful sources and explain where automated tools were used. Never include personal or confidential information in prompts without appropriate permission.
